The fourth lunar day each of the two lunar phases (Krishna Paksha and Sukla Paksha) is called Chaturthi. It comes twice a month. The Chaturthi which comes after the full moon(Purnima) is called Krishna Paksha Chaturthi. And the Chaturthi after Amavasya is called Shukla Paksha Chaturthi. Lohri is a very lovely and Punjabi folk festival celebrated every year on 13 January by Sikhs and Hindus in Punjab. It is said that this day is the last night of Pausha month and the eve of Makar Sankranti. On this day, farmers surrender rabi crops like maize, sesame, wheat, mustard, gram, etc. to the fire and keep it in front of God.
Let us tell you that on this day, people sing folk songs in the evening with great love and brotherhood. Also, by burning fire with wood and dupes in an open space, they revolve around it. Not only this, on this day, drums and drums are also played, along with this dance, bhangra and gidda are also seen. On this day, revdi, gajak and peanuts are also enjoyed sitting around the fire. According to another story, Kansa had sent a demon named Lohita to kill Lord Krishna who was killed by Krishna in the game. It is believed that the festival of Lohri is celebrated by people in the happiness of the slaughter of Lohita. It is said that the belief of celebrating Lohri is also associated with Shiva and Sati. According to a legend, fire is lit on the day of Lohri due to Mata Sati being dedicated to the fire.
Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chaturthi is an important Hindu festival; dedicated to the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune – Lord Ganesh. According to Hindu Lunar Calendar; it falls on Chaturthi tithi of Shukla paksha in the month of Bhadrapada.
Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates the arrival of Ganesha on earth. Parvati or Gauri, was the daughter of the mountain king, Himavaan and Earth, was her homeland. There fore, she came to the earth alone to visit her parents, leaving her husband and son behind. Shiva couldn’t bear to live without his wife, and so he sent his son Ganesha right behind her to bring her back. Ganesha thus came down to earth; where he welcomed with open arms, and his stay extended to 11 days.
Installation and worship of Ganesha idol
On Ganesh Chaturthi, an idol of Ganesha is made by taking a bath, etc. This statue is made from gold, copper, clay or cow dung according to its strength. After this, take a clean urn and fill it with water and tie it with a clean cloth. After that, the idol of Ganesha is installed on it. It is said that after this, by offering vermilion to the idol, he is worshiped by performing sodomy.

Ganesh Ji is offered south and offered to him 21 laddus. Five laddus are kept near the idol of Ganesh and the rest are distributed among Brahmins. It is considered very good that Ganesha should be worshiped in the evening. After the Puja is over, Arghya is offered to the Moon keeping his eyes low. It is said that the moon should not be seen on this day. Also, let us tell you that after feeding food to Brahmins, they also have to give Dakshina.
The Vrat is observed on the Chaturthi day of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month has a lot of importance to married women. Let us tell you that on this day the Karwa Chauth vrat is kept. It is said that if Suhagin women keep a fast on this day, then their husband’s life is long as well as their household life begins to be very happy. Let us tell you that the fast of Karwa Chauth starts before 4 in the morning before the sun rises and the fast is opened only after the sighting of the moon at night. It is believed that Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, and Lord Shri Ganesh are worshiped on this day, along with the story of Karwa Chauth Vrat is also heard.
