Dhungri Mela

Description

The local folks in Manali worship Hidimba devi as a deity. On a special Festival- Dhungri Mela, queues of people and visitors can be seen outside the temple premise to worship their favourite Goddess- Hidimba in her best form. This distinguished festival is organized in the temple annually in the month of May. During these festivity fair, the local women of Manali visit the famous Dungri forest area and celebrate these fests and fairs with music and dance. It coexists with the completion of paddy transplantation. The temple is surrounded by a dense forest at the foot of the Himalayas’. The sanctuary is over a haven hillock in the ground which was worshiped as an image of the deity. The structure was constructed in 1553 by Maharaja Bahadur Singh. Dhungri Mela
