Description

Yamunotri is a Hindu abode devoted to Yamuna Deity. It is nestled in the deep left on the western face of the mountain peak of the Himalayas, located at 40 kilometres away from Barkot in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Yamunotri Dham

This large river is sited at a height of 3293 meters above sea level of the ‘’Garhwal’ division near Bandarpunch Peaks in Lower Himalayas.

It is the primary source of the River- Yamuna circumscribed by sky-high hillocks, dense forest and mighty valley. The sacred Yamuna is considered as the second diviniest River in India after Ganga among the four holy shrines in Chardham pilgrimage Yatra. It is also famed as one of largest Rivers in India where worshippers enjoy a number of hot water springs- ‘Divya Shila’ in the temple premises.

How To reach:

If you are planning to travel to this highly idolized Hindu pilgrimage then you can reach there by air (flight), railway or roadways (buses, cars, autos and cabs).

By Airways: The nearest Airport is- Jolly Grant at Dehradun which is situated at a distance of 210 km from the town of Yamunotri. You can get regular flights to the Jolly Grant Airport from the capital of India- Delhi. Once you get down, hire a cab or taxi to reach Yamunotri or Namgawn.

By Railways (Trains): If you are travelling by train to the holy place- Yamunotri, reach Dehradun railway station first. The Dehadun railway station is approx 172 km from Yamunotri. After arriving Dehradun Railway station, you can easily get cabs for Yamunotri.

By Road (By Bus): Yamunotri is nicely linked via road to all the chief tourist places in Uttarakhand. You will get regular buses to Hanuman Chatti which is approx 4 kilometer Rishikesh is also connected to it and is at a distance of 213 km and Dehradun at 172 km from Yamunotri. Nawgaon is a major link at a distance of 171 KM from Haridwar.
