12 Jyotirlinga Yatra


There are essentially 64 Jyotirlingas out of which 12 are considered to be highly propitious and divine. These illustrious 12 Jyotirlinga are supposed to be the main abodes of Lord Shiva in India. The journey to these 12 distinguished Lord’s shrines is accounted to be the holiest and it is also said that one should visit these noteworthy pilgrimages once in their life to achieve salvation. Ardent devotees of Lord Shiva sit and meditate for a long time span to pay homage to Lord. Each venerated Shrines of these 12 Jyotirlinga has the deity of Shiva Lingam. Shivling is famed as one of the chief Manifestations (Avatars) of Shiva. Worshippers of Shiva visit these religious places to get rid of all their sins and wrong-deeds. One should plan this sacred expedition in the season of summer as Amarnath Temple gets open only for a limited period of time, i.e from Akshaya Tritiya (april )to Kartik Purnima that usually occurs in November.
