Description
The four pious-destinations positioned on the hillocks of
Himalayas at the tranquil altitudes are popular as- ‘Chota Char Dham’ of India.
These renowned Hindu pilgrimages- Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath
are visited by thousands of visitors and devotees. It begins from the month of
April/ May and ends in October or November Month. However, the best time to
visit is- April and May to relish the picturesque grandeur of the environment
with the pleasant weather and the climate. Char Dham Yatra
These four sacred temples are dedicated to four distinct
deities. Worshippers revere Goddess-Ganga in Gangotri, Goddess- Yamuna in
Yamunotri while Lord Shiva is venerated in Kedarnath and in Badrinath- Lord
Vishnu is worshipped. These holy shrines are located within the ‘Garhwal
region’ of North-Indian states of Uttarakhand. It is considered very auspicious
to visit this Char Dham Yatra at least once to get blessings from these
divinities.
How to Reach:
It is highly spiritual and religious to start your Char-Dham
Yatra with- Yamunotri and Gangotri proceeding to Kedarnath then concludes at
Badrinath. Geographically, Chardham Yatra starts clockwise from west to east
direction. These four devout Hindu Abodes have their own Legends, Significance,
Mythology and Spiritual Importance.

Closing date: the second day after Diwali
Gangotri Temple: Opening date: 18 April
2017(Akshaya-Tritiya);
Closing date: The temple closes on the day of Diwali.
Kedarnath Temple: Opening date: 29 April, 2018 at 06:15
am;
Closing date: second day after Diwali i.e. on Bhai Dooj.
Badrinath Temple: Opening date: 30 April, 2018 at 04:30
am;
Closing date: ‘Vijayadashami’ by Mandir Committee.
