Guru Ravidas Jayanti Every year on the full moon day of Magh month, Guru Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated which is the birthday of Guru Ravidas. This day is an optional holiday in India. Employees can only choose a limited number of holidays from the list of optional holidays. Guru Ravidas Jayanti is a holiday when most offices and businesses remain open. However, employees are at liberty to take leave on this day. Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab states celebrate this day as a holiday.

How and when to inspect

Guru Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated by taking out processions, reciting the scriptures, and reciting prayers in temples dedicated to Guru Ravidas. Devotees read Amritvani Guru Ravidas Ji, changed Nissan Sahib, and performed Nagar Kirtan. Guru Ravidas Jayanti will be celebrated on 27 February in 2021.

Stories Of Guru Ravidas Ji

Born in a low-caste family at the end of the 14th century, Guru Ravidas was an eminent person who opposed the oppression of the Indian caste system and was one of the pioneers of the Bhakti movement. He was one of the first to advocate the human rights of individuals and believed that all individuals should have a set of basic human rights. He also taught spirituality and gave a message of equality. He was considered a spiritual master by Meera Bai, an eminent figure in Hindu spirituality.

Importance of Guru Ravidas Jayanti

Sikh texts, 41 of the Guru Granth Sahib, his devotional songs and poems are included. His teachings are considered sacred and practical which are relevant even today. The Ravidasia religion is based on his teachings. Sikh Gurus studied his teachings as he lived before the first Sikh Guru. However, in recent years, Ravidasia has split from the orthodox Sikh structure due to conflict with Sikhs.

Guru Ravidas gave the message of peace, harmony, and brotherhood. His teachings are still very relevant today. A better place to live in society is if people follow his teachings and he will be revered in every society, in every age.
