In the Hindu Sanatan Dharma, Karwachauth is considered as an important festival for married women (suhagin). In this festival, women keep a day long fast for their beloved husbands. They also apply henna, wear bangles, and adorn themselves through sacred sixteen make-ups (solah- shringar) on the propitious day of Karwachauth. This fast is performed on the auspicious day of Kartik Krishna of Chandrodaya Vyapini Chaturthi in Kartik month. Women keep this fast for husband’s long life. This fast is kept almost in all the states with different rituals and sacraments or as per the prevailing beliefs, but these sacraments vary slightly in all the regions. Nevertheless, Karwachauth comes every year but we are not aware of the right method, and hence leads to non- fruitful results. Karwachauth day is very important for the ladies, because they keep this
fast for the long life of the husband and the welfare of the house. Karwachauth
