Navratri Day 5 – Skandamata Puja Vidhi, Aarti and Mantra

Everybody is aware about the elder son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. He was the great and the intelligent God Kartikeya. When Goddess Parvati became the mother of Lord Kartikeya (Lord Skanda), she came to be known as Skandamata. The fifth day of Navratri is dedicated to the worship of the Skanda Devi.

About Goddess Skandamata
Goddess Skandamata rides a ferocious lion and carries the many headed baby Kartikeya in her lap. The goddess has four hands with the right hand in the Abhaya Mudra. A crescent moon of Lord Shiva can also be found on her forehead. She sits on the lotus flower and because of that Skandamata is also known as Goddess Padmasana. Red colored flowers are her favourite.

Skandamata Puja Date

The Skandamata puja is performed on the Panchami Tithi of the fifth day of Navratri. On this chaitra navratri, this puja falls on Wednesday, 10th April 2019.

Skandamata Puja Vidhi
