The Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month is called Papankusha Ekadashi. The name Papankusha, where Papa means sins and Ankusha means seed. It is referred to as Papankusha because it is said that one can get riddance from the burden and consequences of his/her wrongdoings by sowing the seeds of good deeds. On this day, there is a law to remember Bhagavad by remaining silent and chanting bhajans. In this way, the mind becomes pure and happy by the worship of God and the virtues in man are eradicated. According to religious Hindu beliefs, observing this Ekadashi fast gives a virtue equal to hard penance.

The worship method of this fast is as follows:
- Wheat, Urad, Moong, Chana, Barley, Rice, and Dal, seven types of grains should not be eaten on the day of Dashami, as these seven grains are worshiped on the day of Ekadashi.
- Get up early in the morning and keep fast after taking a bath.
- Ghat should be established and worshipped by placing the idol of Lord Vishnu on the Kalash. After this Vishnu Sahasranama should be recited.
- On the next day of the fast, on Dwadashi Tithi, break the fast after offering food and donations to Brahmins.
In ancient times, there lived a great fawn named Krodhan on Vindhya mountain. He spent all his life only in violence, robbery, alcohol, and false speeches. When the last stage of his life came, Yamraj ordered his messengers to bring Krodhan. The eunuchs told him that tomorrow is his last day. Fearing death, he reached his hermitage under the shelter of the fowler Maharishi Angira. Maharishi showed mercy to him and advised him to fast on Papakunsha Ekadashi. In this way, by fasting and worshiping Papakunsha Ekadashi, the cruel fowler got salvation by the grace of God.
It is said that in the Mahabharata period, Lord Krishna himself told Dharmaraja Yudhishthira the importance of Papakunsha Ekadashi. Shri Krishna said that this Ekadashi prevents sin, as well as this Ekadashi, protects from sinful deeds. By fasting on this Ekadashi, a person attains Artha and Moksha. On this day worship should be done with devotion and devotion and donations and Dakshina should also be given to Brahmins. Only fruits are eaten on this day. This keeps the body healthy and the heart happy. By observing this fast, everyone's sins are destroyed.
