Swami Vivekananda Jayanti

Swami Vivekananda Jayanti is commemorated on the day of 12th January every year. This year, it would be the 156th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. On this day, a Hindu religious festival- Kalasthami is also revered to worship Lord- Shani in his fierce form. He was a great saint and a noble philosopher. Being an illustrious Hindu monk, he has disparate academic disciples and numerous followers. Millions of people still follow his disciplines and he was one of the most influential and patriotic mentor for all the people across the world.

According to Hindu and English calendar, He was born on 12th January 1863 in the Indian states of Bengal in Calcutta (Kolkata). Swami Vivekanand established Ramakrishna Math, Belur Math and Ramakrishna Mission in bygone days. He was also an avid admirer of Vedanta philosophy of Hinduism. Government has also proclaimed Swami Vivekananda Jayanti as National Youth Day since 1985 on every 12th January.

In today’s world, the teachings, life-lessons and motivating quotes of Swami Vivekananda are impeccable and righteous. These inspiring life lessons show high moral standards and are perfect examples of right and wrong behaviour. He even prefaced the actual meaning of Hinduism including- Vedanta and yoga to the western as well as European countries. The discourses on ceremonial occasions, he orated at various places were so encouraging and quintessential. His one of the best speeches in 1893 at the Parliament of World’s Religions in Chicago became the most notable and distinguished till today.
