Mahadeva Temple is one of the most famous and eminent temples in Rajasthan
state. This holy temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This Shiva abode is
positioned near to Achalgarh Fort and close to Mount Abu. This notable
pilgrimage has spiritual and religious values and is a famed tourist place as
well as. People believe that this place was built in 9th century by the Parmar
dynasty. Re-construction was also done numerous times and underwent through
many renovations by Rana Kumbha. Inside the main sanctum, the Shiva-lingam is
naturally established with a marbelled- stone. A beautiful Nandi which is considered
the ride of Lord Shiva is also placed beside the lingam and is made up with
five metals or pancha-dhaatu. On Mahashivratri,
umpteen devotees throng the temple with prayers on their mind and offering on
their hands. People come from various places to get Shiva’s Blessings and they
observe a holy vibe surrounding in this auspicious occasion. Fairs have been organised and people often fast on the night of
Shivratri. Tourists and the local residents sing hymns and praises in the name
of Lord Shiva to get blessings in bulk for their near and dear ones. Large
carcades are carried out within the city with people thronging the streets to
catch a glance of the venerate idol of Mahadeva.
