Aundha Nagnath Temple

Aundha Nagnath Shiva Temple is famous as the 8th Jyotirlinga among the 12 Jyotirlinga in Shiva Purana. It is situated at Aundha Nagnath in Hingoli district of Maharashtra. This notable temple is an important place to worship Lord Shiva in his Lingam Manifestation. People visit this eminent pilgrimage to see unbelievably beautiful carvings and paintings on the temple walls. These sculptures depict the stories and pictures of Hindu mythology. It is a holy Shiva Temple and has huge spiritual and religious value. This pilgrimage was established during Mahabharata reign and was built by Yudhistra- one of the five pandavas. This shrine is a biggest among all the Shiva abodes in Maharashtra and is height of 18.29 in total area of 669.60 sq mt. Shrawan Maas and MahaShivratri are the festivals celebrated with a great pomp and devotion every year. People come not only from India but outside it to visit this sacred Shrine of Lord Shiva and to carry water from the holy well. Dev-Diwali and Prodosh Vrats are also commemorated inside the complex among the local devotees.
