About
Bagheswari temple is
situated in the southern part of Bongaigaon town in Assam. It is surrounded by
a beautiful tea estate.
Mythology
King Daksha’s Havan and
then the Tandav of Lord Shiva had ultimately given rise to these 52 Shakti
Pithas. Bagheswari temple is the holy place where Sati’s Trishul fell down when
her body was cut into pieces by Lord Vishnu.
How to reach:
By Rail: The place is well connected by Rail. It is around 1km from the
Bongaigaon railway station and the station is 175 KM away from Guwahati Railway
station.
By Air: Guwahati Airport Assam then by Bus or train
till New Bongaigaon Station or Bongaigaon which takes approx 3 to 4 hours.
Another nearest airport is Bagdogra West
Bengal. Train or Buses from there which will take approx 5 hour till New
Bongaigaon Station.
History
The Bhageswari Hill is an ancient temple of Lord Shiva
inside a stone cave flanked on either side by another 2 temples. The two
temples are Bhageswari Devi and the temple of Baba TarakNath.
