About
Shri Dwadasha Jyotirlinga Temple is dedicated to
lord Shiva. It is nestled in the state of Karnataka at Bangalore. This famous
Hindu Temple is actually placed in Omkar Ashram, in Omkar Hills. It is famed as
the biggest and the illustrious temple in Karnataka state. This temple is
unique in its own way and has beautiful architecture. The temple was
established by Sri Shivapuri Mahaswamiji in 2002. On February 2011, the consecration
(Pranaprathishta) of the 12 Jyotirlingas and Mahakumbhabhishekam inside the
temple complex was organised by Sri Swami Madhusudhanananda Puri. Shrawan Maas
and MahaShivratri are the festivals
celebrated with a great pomp and devotion every year. People come not only from
India but outside it to visit this sacred Shrine of Lord Shiva and to carry
water from the holy well. Dev-Diwali and Prodosh Vrats are also commemorated
inside the complex among the local devotees. Fairs have been organised and people
often fast on the night of Shivratri and sing hymns and praises in the name of
Lord Shiva People believe that on this holy day Lord Shiva was married to
Parvati Maa. Shivratri is the best time to visit this famous temple, as people
from all corners of India trickle in here to seek the blessing of Lord Shiva.
