It is another beautiful church of New Delhi lying very close to Turkman Gate. The church is dedicated to Rev Alexander Charles Maitland after his death by his widow wife, Mrs. Mary Rosetta Maitland.
The church was built in the year 1905. The church follows a beautiful Byzantine architecture having a domed chapel. The structure is supported with buttresses and each of the domes have glowing lanterns on their top portion.
Another unique part of the church is it uses the Urdu language for reading bibles and is highly influenced by Persian culture. They refer the church prayers as dua, their holy service as namaz and fastings as Roza.
The people of the church even greet each other with salam and pray to Jesus. It is a must-visit destination in Delhi to visualize the unique church culture.
