About
It is one of the oldest and the most divine Hindu temples which is dedicated to Goddess- Kachakanti. It is situated in the Barak Valley which is located at a distance of 11 km from ‘Silchar’ (Udarbund). In the premise, there is a temple of Lord Shiva as well.
How to reach:
We
can easily reach KachaKanti Temple as Udarbund is 354 km south east of
Guwahati. And Visitors can outreach By Air, By Train and By Bus as these are
the three major modes of transports in the valley.
History
It is a historical pilgrimage and the most
commemorated temple for ethnically Bengali and Hindu people in the district of
South Assam, India. Kachakanti Devi is a beautiful incarnation of two powerful
Hindu Goddess- Maa Durga and Maa Kali. She is represented as the empowerment of
‘Shakti’. Goddess- Kachakanti, four armed, each arms shows variously a sword, a
severed head etc. She is delineated as the consort of Lord- Shiva on whose body
she has been seen standing. Whilst she was in anger, Shiva lied in her Path
whose foot on Lord Shiva conquered her rage.
