About
Kamleshwar Mahadev Temple is fixed in Pauri Garhwal
at Srinagar in Uttrakhand state. It is a very peculiar holy Shiva Temple. Kamleshwar
Mahadeva Temple has an adulated deity of Lord Shiva. A Shivlinga is also
installed inside the sanctum- sanctorum. Mondays are considered highly revered
to take Mahadeva’s blessing. It is one of oldest temples of Uttrakhand and a
divine and serene Pilgrimage to pay homage to Mahadeva.
According to Hindu Mythology- the temple is famous as
the sacred centre and holds the popular beliefs for the devotees. Legend has it
that if a childless couple stands in front of the temple and spends the entire
night holding an earthen lamp they will be blessed with a child during the
Kartika Chaturdashi. The speciality of the temple is that- On second day after
Vasant Panchami during Achra Saptami, the 52 types of dishes are offered to the
deity.
Almost all the
festivals are celebrated with a set of rituals in this temple. The festival of
Shivratri is observed at grand scale with a great devotion and fervour. The
atmosphere of the temple provides peace to mind and heart of the devotees and
the toursits. This illustrious pilgrim lmage centre also arranges a fifteen
days fair at the time of Mahashivratri Parva every year. A fest (fair) has been
organised by the local devotees and the organisers to celebrate this big
festival annually. Devotees observe fast on this night and do not eat anything
till night and offer fruits, flowers and bel leaves on Shiva Linga. People
believe that on this holy day Lord Shiva was married to Parvati Maa.
