Kapilash Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva
and is considered one of the popular Hindu temples in Odisha state. This Shiva
abode is positioned in Kapilash Road at Dhenkanal district in the whereabouts of
Dhenkanal town. This is resided in Indian state of Odisha and has beautiful
shivlinga in the centre of the holy abode which is worshipped as- ‘Budha linga’.
This Hindu temple was built in 1246 AD. Kapilash Temple has magnificent idols
of many godheads including- Shivlinga, Jagmohan, Ganesha, Kartikeya and Mother
Ganga etc.
Architecture:
Kapilash Temple is elevated at a height of 682.44
metres with the main entrance in the north-eastern direction. There are
basically two kunds placed in the main vicinity of the temple, named as-
Payamruta kunda’ (left side) ‘Marichi kunda’(right side). Tourists can reach
the temple either by mounting it to an elevation of 18 metres from the hillocks
or to hire a cab to pay a visit.
Specialty:
The temple is situated on the hillocks and
has a splendid mountainous view after reaching there. It is suggested to pay a
visit on special festivities and occasions.
