Naimisharanya Misrikh Temple
Naimisharanya Misrikh is popularly known as Neemsar, Nimsar or Nimkhar among the local people. This Pilgrimage is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is sited at Sitapur city in the North- Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. According to the mythology, it is one of the Divya Desams- the 108 temples of Lord Vishnu revered in Nalayira Divya Prabandham by the 12 poet saints. There is a belief that, the temple is renovated and re-constructed at different times from the ruling kings of Past days. The temple is renowned as one of the eight temples of Lord Vishnu and worshipped inside the temple along with his better- half Goddess- Laxmi.
Many popular festivals are commemorated in the
temple premises such as- Rarth Yatra and Ekadashi along with Lord Vishnu’s
Birthday. As per the Myths, The sacred tank-Chankra Kunda which is fixed near
to this holy temple is associated with the history of this temple. It is
believed that this is a pilgrimage centre where people take a holy dip during
festive occasions to get rid of several diseases and mental stress.
