The Namgyal Monastery is positioned in the Dharamshala district of Himachal Pradesh. People say that this notable monastery is a Spiritual residence of Dalai Lama who is the leading mentor of Tibetan Community. This is also linked with the Dalai Lamas’s Disciples, Monks and Saints who worship Buddhism and mediate for Days here. The second Dalai Lama established this magnificent monastery in 16th century. Many festivals are celebrated inside this famous Monastery, some of the noteworthy occasions are: Buddha Purnima and Tibetan New Year.
Buddha Purnima is popularly known as- Vesak as it falls in the Vaisakha (Baisakh) Month. In the year 2018, It will be remarked on 30th April (Monday). On this eminent day, Buddhists take part in the ceremonial bathing of the Buddha and pour rose water on an idol of baby Siddhartha. This symbolizes purifying one's thoughts and actions.
