About
Pataleshwar Temple is situated in Hajipur and is
one of the renowned places of this city. This Hindu pilgrimage is the oldest and
the ancient Shiva pilgrimage. It is dedicated to lord Shiva and on every
Mondays, Devotees come from nearby places to get blessings. This holy place is
positioned in the heart of Bihar in Jadhua road. Lord Shiva is present here inside
the temple place in the form of Lingam. This is one of the eminent places to
worship lord Shiva in his lingam avatara. MahaShivratri
festival is celebrated on the 6th night of the dark Phalgun- Feb or March
every year. Devotees observe fast on this night and do not eat anything till
night and offer fruits, flowers and Bel leaves on Shiva Linga. The Festival-
Mahashivaratri marks the night when Lord Shiva performed the 'Tandava'. People
believe that on this holy day Lord Shiva was married to Parvati Maa. Devotees
visit this temple especially on some auspicious occasions to seek fulfilment of
the following- Salvation; Wealth and Relief from diseases.
