Phuktal Monastery or Phugtal Gompa is positioned just near to the looming TV Tower at the Hill Peak. It has been constructed in an enormous cave and a river flows down the hillock very near to the temple area. Phuktal Monastery is situated in the Zanskar region of Jammu and Kashmir states in India. Phuk basically means Cave (Gufa), Tal means lake or River. A bridge is also designed in the middle, from where visitors cross the river to reach the Buddha Shrine. A ray of water comes out from the mouth of the cave which flows down to the plain ground region. Padum is the administrative centre which is very close to the Phutkal Monastery.
