Madhav Temple is popularly known as- ISCKON Temple among local people in
Kanpur. It is situated in Ved Veethika at Swatantara Senani Marg at Kanpur. This
famous temple is dedicated to the service of Radha and Lord Krishna. The idols
in the centre are the major attraction for the entire complex. Temple has
unique latticed towers a fusion of traditional design and modern possibilities
will extend ninety-eight feet above the highest point of the hilltop. Inside
the temple premise, the carved stone, wood, and marble bring to life the
advanced artistry of ancient India in devotion to Lord Krishna. It is
scripturally based on the 5,000-year-old Sanskrit text Bhagavad-Gita. It is
basically established to serve as a centre for India's greatest glory Vedic
knowledge and culture.
Janmashtami preparation takes place in full
swing in South Indian states too. Many sweets and delicious delicacies are made
on this occasion however ladoos and chakkulis stand out as they are believed to
be the favourite of the Mahaprabhu. Arghya Pradana is the most important part
of the celebration that involves offering of milk and water to the Lord which
includes tiger dance performance by musicians followed by other cultural
programs.
