Shri Mankameshwarnath Mandir

Mankameshwar Temple is a famous Hindu temple situated in Agra. It is one of the ancient and the sacred temples devoted to Lord Shiva. The temple is positioned at Rawatpara, just close to Agra Fort Railway Station. According to Hindu Mythology, it is believed that the main shivlinga is covered by the silver metal and was established by Lord Shiva himself during Dwapara era, when krishna was born in Mathura. And as per local residents, for ushering blessing on the child Krishna, Shiva came directly from mount Kailash. A cremation ground near to River Yamuna is situated where Shiva meditated and night stayed.

On the occasion of MahaShivratri, Shivlinga Abhisheka is done every year to cleanse and to purify our souls and inner-selves. Yagna(Hawan) is organised inside the main vicinity by main Pujaris to appease God. Navagraha Pooja is also observed dedicated to the Creator of the entire universe and the nine planets- Lord Shiva. A big fest (Fair) is also commemorated to celebrate this auspicious occasion of Shivratri. People come a long way to please Lord Shiva on Shivratri function and offer Bel-patris, Milk, Sugar, Honey, Flowers and Water on Shivalinga.
