About
Kadu Malleshwara Temple is sited at
Malleshwaram locality of Bengaluru, India. This notable temple is dedicated to
Lord Shiva and has a veey big Shivlinga inside the main sanctorum. The temple
was established by Venkoji (Maratha King Shivaji's Brother) in the 17th century
A.D. This distinguished Shiva temple was designed in Dravidian style. Goddess
Parvathi is also worshipped along with Shiva and he is being worshipped as-
Mallikarjuna. Nandishwara Teertha Temple was also built in front of the main
temple's premise.
Almost all the
festivals are celebrated with a set of rituals in this temple. The festival of
Shivratri is observed at grand scale with a great devotion and fervour. The
atmosphere of the temple provides peace to mind and heart of the devotees and
the toursits. This illustrious pilgrim lmage centre also arranges a fifteen
days fair at the time of Mahashivratri Parva every year. A fest (fair) has been
organised by the local devotees and the organisers to celebrate this big
festival annually. Devotees observe fast on this night and do not eat anything
till night and offer fruits, flowers and bel leaves on Shiva Linga. People
believe that on this holy day Lord Shiva was married to Parvati Maa.
