Shri Tilbhandeshwar Mahadev Mandir is famed as
Tilbhandeshwar Mahadev Mandir and Tilbhandeshwar Mandir in Varanasi. It is one
of the, ancient oldest and most famous temples in the holy city of Varanasi.
This temple has great religious importance in Hinduism and is dedicated to the
Lord Shiva. Tilbhandeshwar Mandir was built in 18th century. This holy
pilgrimage is located in Pandey Haveli, Bhelupur, adjacent to Bengali Tola
Inter College.
As per the Hindu mythology, The ShivLinga inside
the temple premise was emerged by itself 2,500 years ago and increases every
year by the size of a "til. Presently the Shiv Ling is 3.5 feet in height
and the diameter of the base is approximately 3 feet. It is also believed that
Mata Sharda had spent some days in this temple.
MahaShivratri is celebrated among
the local devotees and the tourists with a great fervour, devotion and zeal
every year. A fest has been organised by the local devotees and the organisers
to celebrate this big festival annually. This illustrious pilgrimage centre
also arranges a fifteen days fair at the time of Mahashivratri Parva every year.

do not eat anything till night and offer fruits, flowers and bel leaves on
Shiva Linga. People believe that on this holy day Lord Shiva was married to
