About
This ancient Lord Shiva Temple is beautifully
located near Derapur, Kanpur Dehat district, Uttar Pradesh, India. The temple
is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was established by Daityaraj Wanasur. It is
about a 1000-year old shrine and very popular among locals. Apart from its
ancient importance, the temple is also renowned for fulfilling devotee’s wish.
It is one of the most popular temples in Uttar- Pradesh dedicated to Lord Shiva.
MahaShivratri: This
illustrious pilgrimage centre arranges a fifteen days fair at the time of
Mahashivratri Parva every year. And devotees of districts Kanpur Dehat, Jalaun,
Hamirpur and Banda worship Lord Shiva of Waneshwar with Ganges water in
returning from Lodheshwar (Barabanki). People from local place specially visit
this pilgrimage for its serenity on Mondays. On Mahashivratri, umpteen devotees throng the temple with prayers on
their mind and offering on their hands. People come from various places to get
Shiva’s Blessings and they observe a holy vibe surrounding in this auspicious
occasion. Fairs have been organised
and people often fast on the night of Shivratri and sing hymns and praises in
the name of Lord Shiva. Large carcades are carried out within the city with
people thronging the streets to catch a glance of the venerate idol of
Mahadeva.
