Enchey Monastery is sited on the outskirts of the town- Gangtok in Sikkim State. It is a well-known and the historic Buddhist Pilgrimage in Gangtok City. This Buddha Shrine is very popular for its magnificent Chines Pagoda architecture. This eminent Shrine was first visited by a great- Lama Dhrupthob Karpo from South Sikkim who was famous to perfrom various Tantras-Mantras 200 years back. In 1840, this famous Monastery was established and later on in the year 1908- it was re-constructed by the notable king of Sikkhim. Monks reside inside the main complex and a building near to this is also constructed where junior monks and saints live. Followers visit this very sacred place and pay homage to Lord-Buddha and also take Blessings for their dear ones.

Social, Cultural and Religious Ceremonies like Prayer meetings (including Panchasheel, Sutrapath, Ashtasheel, Sutrasraban) and Bodhidroom Mela (Fair) for four and five days to specially celebrate this illustrious festivity. On Buddha Purnima, Priests, Monks, Saints and Nuns pay tribute to the Buddha’s idol by offerings flowers, incense, Candles, Prasad, Milk and Scented- Holy Water and place clay or artificial Diyas around the statue. Tibetan New Year is commenced for four days with special rituals which will fall on 22nd February this year.
