Tirupparamkunram is famous as one of the Arupadai Veedus (The Six Abodes of Lord Murugan) in Indian States on South-India. It is is well-known with the name-Tirupparamkunram Subramanyar Temple among the local devotees. Tirupparamkunram Subramanyar Temple is situated in a small town which is nestled about 8 kilometres from the famous city of Madurai in Tamil-Nadu. Tirupparamkunram is a distinguished place where where Lord Kumara (Muruga) married Deivayanai (Deivanai) and this divine observance is famed as- Tirukalyana. Tirukalyana is a holy name which is popular as the Marriage Ceremony of God. It is believed that- Muruga divinity got married with Deivanai on this propitious sacrament. Tirukalyana is the holy name of the Wedding day which performed during the Skanda Sashti Festival. Deivanai is the divine daughter of the king of Heaven- Indra. Skanda Sashti is also a prestigious Festival celebrated in this holy Hindu pilgrimage. It is observed on the 6th day of the lunar month as per the Tamil Calendar.

The temple is age- old and primitive thus displays the architectural designs of the ancient style. It was established in the 7th or 8th Century. The temple has a a prepossessing Gates, Pillars and Mandapams fixed magnificently with elaborately carved designs internally. Inside the main complex, there are three main caves; the foremost has Subramanyar, Deivayanai and Naaradar. Chariot Festival is also commemorated in this holy Hindu abode whilst decorating Chariots and carrying out carcades in the temple. Laksha Archana is another famous festival at Tirupparamkunram Temple.
